Aged Care Search:
Northern Sydney Region
Step 1: Cost overview
Know the broad range of cost options
Getting an overview of aged care costs in your area is your first step to working out the right aged care provider for your loved one.
The Australian Government Department of Health groups aged care providers into regions, and we use these boundaries to prepare our overview.
With nearly 100 aged care providers, the Northern region of Sydney includes nearly 9,000 funded aged care beds.
There is a significant range of cost in the region - with lump sum accomodation costs as low as $100,000, up to the premium end of more than $3m.
By looking at the range of costs in your area, you can know where your chosen provider fits in the mix. You may also want to cast your eye over the premium providers (those with much higher lump sums), or alternatively know more about the lower cost end should it be relevant to you.
Remember - the lump sum entry cost - or the Refundable Accomodation Deposit (RAD) - is like buying the bricks and mortar of the aged care facility - your room, and a share of the facilities. This amount is fully refundable - and is even guaranteed by the Government.
The amount paid as a RAD also has important implications on the calculation of age pension eligibility and means testing of aged care fees - something we will help you clarify later in your search
Step 2: Quality Overview
The Government introduced a rating system to help you.
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission introduced the Star Ratings system to provide a simple score of aged care providers in key categories.
This is an unbiased rating system - no sponsored content, premium listings or paid appearances.
We believe this is a vital tool in beginning your search, and we have listed the results below - ranking the from the highest rated facility in the area from highest to lowest.
Step 3: Find the location that works best for you
Where do you want care to be?
The best place to start working out options in by using a map.
